Annual and Other Events
The People of the Promise community hosts and enjoys many different opportunities to grow and share in faith.
Women of the Passion
Beginning in 2018, we have co-hosted a presentation of a unique Lenten experience of the passion of Jesus Christ as witnessed by the women in the company of Jesus. Following the traditional stations of the cross format, each station is narrated by a woman whose life was transformed by her encounter with Jesus, including the woman taken in adultery, the widow with the mite, the mother of James and John, Mary Magdalene, the Blessed Mother of Jesus, and others.
This has become a beloved event each year, on a Friday evening during Lent. To receive information about all events, including this year, join our mailing list.

Book Discussions
The People of the Promise appreciate reading a good book together, focusing on spiritual themes. We choose a book and then schedule a time to discuss it together on Zoom after Sunday Mass.
Spring-Summer Book: Our next book for 2026 is Theology and Medicine in Conversation: How the Healing Happens by Benjamin R. Doolittle and S. Mark Heim. We will discuss it together in the Fall. Order it from your favorite local bookstore or online vendor.
Occasional Devotional: We enjoyed sharing brief devotional time after liturgy using Mercy Not Sacrifice during Lent 2026 and have decided to do that again, on an occasional basis, using the book Abiding with God Day by Day from Forward Movement.

Community Retreats
We have a long history of going on retreat together! In this post-pandemic world, our retreats have been hybrid, which is to say both in person and on Zoom. Our retreats are a wonderful opportunity to grow our faith, to be curious about new ways to experience the Holy, to laugh, and to eat together.
Only A Child
Our community has been an enthusiastic and involved supporter of this non-profit for decades and each year a group attends the annual fundraiser.
